| We offer hour long, 1/2 day and all day guided trail-rides through
the beautiful Iowa countryside and parks using our Icelandic horses.
Coupled with riding lessons, this is a great way to get to know
the Icelandic horse and also Iowa, which means "beautiful land"
in the Mesquakie language.
The trails go through rolling hills of prairie grasses, wooded
landscapes with abundant wildlife, by rivers and streams, down
shady lanes as well as past bucolic scenes of Iowa Amish farm
life.
Weekend-long rides feature trail riding through the 9,000 acre
Shimek State Forest and also Brinton Timber Park on the bluffs
of the Skunk River.
Your accommodations can be at beautifully restored river inns:
the Manning Hotel and The Mansion in Keosauqua and the Mason House
in Bentonsport, all situated on the wide and winding Des Moines
River in historic and rustic Van Buren County, Iowa.
Come Visit
Make an appointment, and come visit our farm and meet our horses.
We offer riding instruction as a way to introduce people to the
Icelandic horse and how to ride their various gaits.
With lessons, we bring people along more quickly to give them
a better appreciation of this versatile breed. Also, when you
are interested in finding a horse, this gives us a better idea
of which horse(s) might be most suitable for you as a rider.

Trail Riding
Trail Riding starts with riding lessons on our Icelandic horses.
One hour private lesson: $30
1/2 Day rides, including initial lesson: $60.
Full day ride, including lesson: $120.
Weekend riding, including lesson: $240
1/2 Day riding is in the woods of Brinton Timber Park or in the
countryside from our farm. An hour lesson and two hours riding
in the country depending on trail and weather conditions.
Full day riding starts with lessons at our farm and then two
hours of riding in Brinton Timber Park or Shimik State Forest
or the countryside from our farm depending on trail and weather
conditions. We break for lunch and then ride also in the afternoons.
After lunch we will ride for three more hours. With the lesson,
working with the horses and with breaks, the full day riding will
take much of the day.
Trail riding starts with a lesson. Trail riding requires some
physicality and a basic skill in horsemanship for safety and success.
We reserve the right to deny lessons or trail riding as activities
to prospective clients coming to ride.
